Ingredients
1 box Barilla No Boil Lasagna Noodles
2 cups ricotta cheese drained
1 large egg for the ricotta mixture
3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 pound ground beef or Italian sausage cooked and drained
4 cups marinara sauce
1 tablespoon olive oil for cooking meat
3 cloves garlic minced
1 onion finely chopped
Salt and black pepper to taste
Fresh basil or parsley chopped for garnish optional
Optional Add-Ins:
1 cup sautéed spinach
1 zucchini thinly sliced and roasted
1 cup mushrooms sautéed
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 375°F 190°C
Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat Add chopped onion and garlic sauté until fragrant Add ground beef season with salt and pepper cook until browned and drain excess fat Stir in 2 cups of marinara sauce and let it simmer for 5 minutes
In a bowl mix ricotta cheese with the egg half of the Parmesan cheese salt and pepper until smooth
Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce on the bottom of a baking dish
Place Barilla No Boil Lasagna noodles over the sauce slightly overlapping
Spread a layer of the ricotta mixture evenly over the noodles
Add a layer of meat sauce followed by a sprinkle of mozzarella cheese
Repeat the layers noodles ricotta mixture meat sauce and mozzarella until all ingredients are used
Finish with a layer of sauce topped with mozzarella and the remaining Parmesan cheese
Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes
Remove the foil and bake for another 15 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden
For a crispy top broil for 2-3 minutes but watch closely to prevent burning
Let the lasagna rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing
Garnish with fresh basil or parsley and serve warm
