Description
This Refreshing Tzatziki Sauce is a creamy, tangy, and cooling Mediterranean dip made with Greek yogurt, fresh cucumber, garlic, lemon juice, and herbs. It’s the perfect pairing for grilled meats, pita bread, or fresh veggies. Easy to make, incredibly flavorful, and much better than store-bought!
Ingredients
Greek Yogurt (full-fat for best texture) 1 cup
Cucumber (grated and drained) 1/2 cup
Garlic (minced) 1 clove
Fresh Dill (chopped) 1 tbsp
Lemon Juice 1 tbsp
Olive Oil 1 tbsp
Salt 1/2 tsp
Black Pepper 1/4 tsp
Instructions
Grate the cucumber and squeeze out excess water using a kitchen towel to prevent a watery sauce
In a mixing bowl combine Greek yogurt grated cucumber minced garlic chopped dill lemon juice olive oil salt and black pepper
Stir well until all ingredients are fully incorporated
Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to blend
Serve chilled as a dip for pita bread fresh vegetables or as a sauce for gyros and grilled meats
Notes
For a thicker tzatziki use full-fat Greek yogurt and drain the cucumber thoroughly
If the garlic flavor is too strong soak the minced garlic in lemon juice for 5 minutes before mixing
Tzatziki tastes best after chilling for at least 30 minutes but can be made ahead and stored in the fridge for up to 4 days
For a dairy-free version use unsweetened coconut yogurt or cashew yogurt instead of Greek yogurt
