Description
These melting caramel s’mores bars blend graham cracker, marshmallows, chocolate chips, and rich caramel into the ultimate gooey dessert.
Ingredients
1 cup graham cracker crumbs
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 large egg
1 cup mini marshmallows
3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
15 soft caramel candies (or 1/2 cup caramel bits)
2 tablespoons heavy cream
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8×8 or 9×9 pan with parchment paper.
In a bowl, combine graham cracker crumbs, flour, baking soda, and salt.
In a separate bowl, whisk melted butter, brown sugar, vanilla extract, and egg until smooth.
Mix wet and dry ingredients together until a dough forms.
Press two-thirds of the dough into the prepared pan.
Evenly sprinkle mini marshmallows and chocolate chips over the dough.
In a microwave-safe bowl, melt caramels with heavy cream in 30-second intervals until smooth.
Pour melted caramel evenly over the marshmallow and chocolate layer.
Crumble remaining dough over the top.
Bake for 18–22 minutes, until golden brown and bubbling.
Allow to cool completely before cutting into bars.
Notes
For cleaner slicing, chill the bars after cooling. Substitute store-bought thick caramel sauce for melted caramels if desired. Add nuts or peanut butter chips for a variation.
