Description
These choco-filled puff pastry rounds are golden, flaky, and bursting with melted chocolate using just five simple ingredients.
Ingredients
1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
4 oz semi-sweet chocolate, chopped or chips
1 egg
1 tablespoon milk
Powdered sugar, for dusting (optional)
Instructions
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to remove creases.
Use a round cookie cutter or glass to cut out even pastry circles.
Place a small amount of chocolate in the center of half of the rounds.
Brush the edges of these rounds with beaten egg.
Cover each with another pastry circle and press edges to seal tightly.
Crimp the edges with a fork for a decorative touch and better seal.
Mix the egg with milk to create an egg wash and brush on top of each pastry.
Place on the baking sheet and bake for 12–15 minutes until golden brown.
Let cool slightly, then dust with powdered sugar if desired and serve warm.
Notes
Ensure puff pastry stays cold before baking for best rise and flakiness. Substitute dark or milk chocolate chips, or fill with Nutella or fruit jam. To reheat, place in a 300°F oven for 5 minutes.
