Sweet and crispy Caramel Apple Dessert Cups filled with cinnamon-spiced apples and topped with homemade caramel The perfect fall dessert


Ingredients

For the Apple Filling

2 cups apples peeled cored and diced
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
¼ teaspoon nutmeg
1 tablespoon butter
1 teaspoon lemon juice

For the Caramel Sauce

½ cup unsalted butter
1 cup brown sugar
¼ cup heavy cream
¼ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Cup Base

1 sheet puff pastry or 6 phyllo dough layers
or 6 pre-made mini graham cracker crusts
or 1 rolled-out pie crust cut into circles


Instructions

Prepare the Apples

Peel core and dice apples
Toss them with brown sugar cinnamon nutmeg and lemon juice
Melt butter in a pan over medium heat and cook apples for 5-7 minutes until slightly soft then set aside

Make the Caramel Sauce

Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat
Stir in brown sugar and cook until dissolved
Slowly pour in heavy cream while stirring continuously
Let the mixture simmer for 3-4 minutes until thickened
Remove from heat and stir in salt and vanilla extract

Assemble the Dessert Cups

Preheat oven to 375°F 190°C
Press puff pastry phyllo dough or pie crust into greased muffin tins or use pre-made graham cracker cups
Fill each cup with cooked apples
Drizzle a small amount of caramel sauce over the apples

Bake the Dessert Cups

Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown
Let them cool slightly before adding more caramel drizzle

Serve and Enjoy

Drizzle extra caramel sauce over the top before serving
Garnish with chopped nuts cinnamon or whipped cream
Serve warm with vanilla ice cream
