Description
Decadent and easy-to-make chocolate chip cheesecake brownies swirled with cream cheese, sugar, vanilla, and gooey chocolate chips.
Ingredients
1 box brownie mix (plus eggs, oil, and water as required)
1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Extra chocolate chips for topping (optional)
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8×8 or 9×9 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
Prepare the brownie mix as directed on the box and pour 2/3 of the batter into the prepared pan, spreading evenly.
In a medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, sugar, egg, and vanilla until smooth and creamy.
Pour the cheesecake mixture over the brownie batter in the pan and gently spread to cover.
Drop spoonfuls of the remaining brownie batter on top of the cheesecake layer.
Use a knife to gently swirl the two layers together for a marbled effect.
Sprinkle chocolate chips evenly over the top.
Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until the center is set and a toothpick comes out with just a few moist crumbs.
Allow to cool in the pan for 30 minutes, then refrigerate for 1–2 hours before slicing.
Cut into squares and serve chilled or at room temperature.
Notes
Chilling before slicing ensures clean, neat squares.
Use reduced-fat cream cheese for a lighter version.
Add espresso powder to brownie batter for a richer chocolate flavor.
Substitute white or dark chocolate chips to change the flavor profile.
