Ingredients
For the Beef
1 lb flank steak or sirloin thinly sliced against the grain
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 teaspoon cornstarch
½ teaspoon baking soda optional for tenderizing

For the Brown Sauce
¼ cup soy sauce
2 tablespoons oyster sauce
1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 teaspoon sugar
½ cup beef broth or water
2 cloves garlic minced
1 teaspoon fresh ginger minced
For Stir-Frying
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 bell pepper sliced
1 small onion sliced
1 cup broccoli florets
½ teaspoon red pepper flakes optional
Instructions
Step 1 Marinate the Beef
In a bowl combine the sliced beef with soy sauce cornstarch and sesame oil Mix well and let it marinate for at least 15 minutes
Step 2 Prepare the Brown Sauce
In a small bowl whisk together soy sauce oyster sauce hoisin sauce cornstarch sugar beef broth garlic and ginger Set aside
Step 3 Stir-Fry the Beef
Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large wok or skillet over high heat Add the beef and cook for 2 to 3 minutes until browned Remove and set aside
Step 4 Cook the Vegetables
In the same pan add another tablespoon of oil Toss in the bell peppers onions and broccoli Stir-fry for 3 to 4 minutes until slightly tender but still crisp
Step 5 Combine Everything
Return the beef to the pan Pour in the brown sauce and stir everything together Let it simmer for 1 to 2 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the beef and veggies
